Standards of Apprenticeship

Ranken Course Description:

In this program,  students gain valuable hands-on experience by utilizing the same tools,  equipment,  and vehicles the dealerships see on a day-to-day basis.  Students gain real-world experience through a paid internship at a sponsoring dealership.  By alternating between,  eight-week blocks of instruction and eight-week blocks of
fieldwork throughout the five-semester program,  students implement their newly learned skills immediately.  This program is accredited by the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)  Education Foundation.

Upon completion of this program,  students will be able to:
•  Inspect,  diagnose,  service,  and repair vehicles:  Engines,
Computerized Engine Controls,  Manual and Automatic
Transmissions,  Steering &  Suspensions,  Brakes,  Electrical,  and
Heating,  Ventilation,  and Air Conditioning Systems (HVAC).
•  Exhibit career-ready professional traits.
•  Adapt to new technologies in the automotive service and repair
industry.

Requirements or Restrictions

Successful completion of Ranken’s Certified Dealership Technician Program

Drivers License 

4000 hours on-the-job training as an automotive technician

Certified Dealer Technician Program:  5 Semesters;  72 credit hours plus

4000 hours on-the-job training as an automotive technician
